A grounding facial ritual, carved in polished black obsidian.
The Atelier Signature Black Obsidian Gua Sha transforms everyday skincare into a slow, intentional ritual.
Naturally cool and beautifully weighted in the hand, its smooth, sculpted edges follow the contours of the face - helping to ease feelings of facial tension and encourage a refreshed, softly sculpted appearance.
Designed to be used with your chosen Atelier facial oil, it glides effortlessly across the skin without pulling. Take your time, breathe slowly and allow each movement to become a quiet moment of reconnection.
The Ritual
Begin with freshly cleansed skin. Warm 3–5 drops of facial oil between your palms and gently press over the face, neck and décolletage.
Hold the gua sha almost flat against the skin and use light, unhurried strokes:
Sweep from the centre of the chin towards the ear. Glide from the side of the nose across the cheek, then move gently beneath the eye using almost no pressure. Sweep from the brows towards the hairline before finishing with soft downward movements along the sides of the neck towards the collarbone.
Repeat each movement three to five times on both sides of the face.
Why Black Obsidian?
Black obsidian is a naturally formed volcanic glass, traditionally associated with grounding and reflection. Its cool, polished surface makes it particularly suited to a calming facial massage ritual.
Complete the Ritual

Care
After each use, wash gently with warm water and a mild cleanser. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing.
Black obsidian is naturally delicate. Avoid dropping the tool or exposing it to sudden changes in temperature. Each piece may display subtle variations in colour, shape and finish—part of its natural character.
For external use only. Do not use over broken, irritated or inflamed skin. Always use very light pressure around the delicate eye area.
